The e-signature card is something employers need, not employees. It identifies the people who are authorised to sign a company's transactions with MOHRE.
What it is
When a company is registered with MOHRE, it records one or more authorised signatories, usually the owner, a partner or a manager. The e-signature card, short for electronic signature card, holds that authorisation. MOHRE uses it to confirm that a request made in the company's name comes from someone allowed to make it.
What it is used for
- Applying for new work permits
- Signing and submitting employment contracts
- Renewing and cancelling work permits
- Updating the company's details with MOHRE
Who needs one
Any mainland private sector company that employs staff through MOHRE. Individual employees do not need an e-signature card for their own enquiries.
How employers apply
Applications and renewals are made through MOHRE's digital channels or an authorised business service centre. The company is normally asked for its trade licence, the signatory's passport and Emirates ID, and proof of the signatory's authority, such as a power of attorney. Check the current requirements and fees on mohre.gov.ae before applying.
Why it matters to employees
If your employer's card has expired, the company may be unable to renew your work permit or process your cancellation on time. If a renewal or your final paperwork is delayed, this is one of the things to ask HR about.

Do employees need an e-signature card?

Does the e-signature card expire?
