Your labour card is the official record that you are allowed to work for your employer. Today it is electronic, and you can view it from your phone.
What a labour card is
A labour card, also called a work permit, is issued by MOHRE to every employee of a mainland private sector company. It links you, your employer and your registered employment contract. Your employer applies for it and pays for it. The cost must not be passed on to you.
What it shows
- Your name, nationality and job title
- Your labour card number and personal number
- Your employer's name and establishment number
- The issue and expiry dates of the permit
How to check your labour card online
- Open an official MOHRE channelUse the MOHRE website or the MOHRE mobile app.
- Sign in or go to enquiry servicesSigning in with UAE Pass shows your own records.
- Open your labour card or work permitYou can see the number, status and expiry date.
If you cannot sign in, your employer's HR team can give you the number.
Why it matters for gratuity
The dates and employer details in MOHRE's records support your claim to continuous service. If you ever need to file a labour complaint, your labour card number is one of the first things you will be asked for.
Renewal and cancellation
Your employer renews the permit before it expires. When your employment ends, the employer applies to cancel it. Check that your final settlement is correct before you sign any cancellation papers.
